Achieving the Promise of Industry 4.0 through Collaboration

As part of Manufacturing Month, the Quad Cities Chamber is proud to welcome three international manufacturing experts to lead a one-time special event "Industry 4.0: Achieving the Promise through Collaboration" on Oct. 26 at the Rock Island Arsenal's JMTC.

Geared toward companies in the defense and manufacturing industries, participants will hear a special address from newly installed commanding officer Col. Kenneth W. Letcher as well as learn more about engaging with contracting opportunities at the Rock Island Arsenal.

The interactive afternoon workshop will feature international manufacturing experts Jack Harris, Steve Ray, and Jack Nagy of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems as they coach attendees on finding ways to achieve the promise of Industry 4.0 through collaboration. Participants will also hear from companies currently embracing Industry 4.0 technology potential within their operations as well as get the latest news about the Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub’s technology playbooks. http://bit.ly/2zgCyFK

Since the late 1700s, the world has progressed from the first Industrial Revolution through today, or the start of the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). Whereby Industry 3.0 incorporated digital systems, techniques and processes into manufacturing, Industry 4.0 extends that to the application of cross domain integration and leverage of the Internet of Things.

After lunch attendees will choose to join one of three small-group work sessions facilitated by Harris, Ray, and Nagy. Participants will summarize challenges they face with respect to technology implementation while also brainstorming solutions and opportunities for collaboration in order to drive SME manufacturing growth and sustainability in the 21st century.

About Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (www.ims.org)
IMS is an industry-led, international business innovation and research and development (R&D) program established to develop the next generation of manufacturing and processing technologies through multi-lateral collaboration.
