A legacy letter is a document that preserves in writing information you want to share with loved ones or friends. The most common one is the ethical will dating from Jewish tradition centuries old. They have become more popular since 9/11. It is a wonderful complement to a legal will which distributes your possessions. The legacy letter insures that your voice is heard in your own words. They are not just for last testaments but also for other events in your life—birthdays, weddings, graduations, etc. Here’s a complete description:
“This two hour workshop will help you understand the purpose and importance of legacy letters sometimes called ethical wills. How do you pass on your values and beliefs to loved ones in your own words at special times in your life? You will leave the workshop with at least a beginning of a legacy letter of your own.
No writing experience is necessary just a desire to pass on your most important beliefs, values, and thoughts to those you love.”
To register, you can use the PayPal link on the MWC web page for the workshop; or, call Ryan Collins at 309-732-7330 to pay over the phone; or send a check with a note to Midwest Writing Center, c/o RIPL, 401 19th St., Rock Island, IL, 61201.
